The conference will take place at the Hotel Monte Real Resort located in the town of Águas de Lindóia (Lindóia Waters), which is about 180 km (112.5 miles) from the city of São Paulo and 8 km (5 miles) from the boundary of the state of Minas Gerais. Participants should arrive and depart from the São Paulo International Airport in Guarulhos. This airport is connected directly to the main cities of the world. São Paulo and Águas de Lindóia are connected by a modern and safe highway that passes through beautiful and scenic landscapes.


Águas de Lindóia has about 16,000 inhabitants and it is part of the Circuito das Águas Paulista (Paulista Water Circuit).It is close to the towns of Amparo, Serra Negra, Lindóia, and Socorro in the state of São Paulo, and Monte Sião and Ouro Fino in the state of Minas Gerais.


Águas de Lindóia’s thermal springs are highly regarded, since the 18th century, for leisure and hydrotherapy. It became well known in Europe after the visit of Madame Curie, the Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, in 1928. It will have a dry temperate climate at the time of the conference in September with an average temperature of 22°C (72 F).

Águas de Lindóia is one of the most characteristic towns of the state of São Paulo and it is very representative of the local Southern-east Brazilian countryside. It has a remarkable tourist activity due to its many famous medicinal water springs as well as for its forested hills. Its landscapes are quite exotic and exquisite mainly of the high of the Morro Pelado (Skinned Hill), from where one can take in a view of the region in every direction. The mountains are covered by the Floresta Atlântica (Atlantic Forest) vegetation.


Prepare yourself for early morning walks in the woods up to the surrounding mountains and enjoy the pleasant walks in and around the Bosque Zequinha de Abreu (Forest Zequinha de Abreu), which is in the town, Lago Cavalinho Branco (White Horse Lake), which is 1 km (about 0.7miles) outside the town, the Park of Recanto dos Nefelibatas, which is 3km outside the town (about 2mi), and Morro do Cruzeiro (Mount of the Cross), which is 2 km outside the town (1.25 miles) and offers an excellent panoramic view of the town and other neighboring towns.

Language and Currency
While the language spoken in Brazil is Portuguese the official language of the Congress is English. All monetary transactions are done in Brazilian currency, the Real (R$). Dollars and Euros may be exchanged in airports, local banks, exchange bureaus and hotels. The Real has been quite stable for several years (1 dollar ? 1.70 Real). Major international credit cards are accepted everywhere in Brazil.
